Frequently Asked Questions: add faq item
What does DAZ mean ?DAZ stands for 'Digital Audio Zone'. DAZ is build on the freedb (CDDB) database, this database includes millions of records with artists-, releases- and track information. We have created a ‘wiki’ interface for visitors who would like to help us clean this database up. As you can see on this page: ABBA there is a lot of work in editing mistakes and/or enrich information. DAZ is still in development. We want to create an inspiring music resource which is interesting for musiclovers and upcomming / unsigned artists. We do NOT offer free mp3 download. We only offer members a free mp3 per day (see homepage) with permission of the artist. Members of DAZ are able to upload a mp3 which is transferred into a low-res 30 seconds sample. |
how can I add a band if another one is already listedThe trick to do this: add the band first with the country in the name. So f.e. Beatles UK. Now you can add the entity. Then move the albums from the wrong artist to the UK version and add UK as country in the entity name. At the other bandname you could also add the other country name as soon as the countries of both entities are different you can delete the extention UK. |

can I download mp3's ?NO, you can't download mp3's (yet) at DAZ. We only offer free mp3's which artists made available for download. See for the free mp3's the DAZ Mediaexchange which is dislplayed at our homepage. |
I've just added to band 'xxx' but it does not show up on my pageYour profile / user page shows all approved edits. If you have just done an edit chances are that nobody has had a chance to review it yet and your home page will not show the band as contributed to by you if this was your first edit for that band. Give it a bit and as soon as the review process has taken place your page will be updated. |
how do I add a second role for a band memberClick the 'add member' link again on the page of the band/group and select the second (or third, there is no real limit) instrument or role the band member has, add the date and submit. The server will automatically detect that a person is already a member and handle the special layout requirements for this situation. |
Can I view the bugs/issues/feature request list ?The closest thing we have to that is the Change Log, it details all the stuff that was done to the site by date and has a list of outstanding issues sorted by area of interest. |
how do I upload an image for a band memberYou can upload an image for a band member in two ways, the first one is to go to the homepage for the band member (click on their name) and then locate the 'upload image' link on the left hand side, the other way is to click the 'upload image' link that appears in the spot where the image would have been otherwise. Please upload images with a min. resolution of 200 pixels width. |
bugs and feedback, requestsBugs, feature requests and other feedback you can always send to us via the feedback form. We'll do our best to implement any feature requests and fix bugs asap, you can see in the changelog how much work we still have to do to get to your item (look under 'todo'). |
my points on the top right and 24h list are differentThe points on the top right hand side indicate all the points that you have received since the day that you began to edit on daz.com. The left hand side shows JUST THE LAST 24 HOURS. So if an edit was done more than 24 hours ago it will no longer be counted on the left hand side. |
I can't change the order of an albumPlease be aware of the fact that on the artistspage the albums are listed under " Discography" and the Tracks are - alpabetically - listed below the albums. If there is only one album visible on the artistspage you may think the order of the tracks is not ok. But this is because it's listed alphabetically. Please click on the release to see the right order of the tracks. |
How do I get credits? You can earn credits by correcting mistakes in the database. See f.e. the artists page of ABBA, Beatles, Rolling Stones etc. for type errors and double releases/tracks because of a type error. After several positive edits you will reach a level in which you can also upload pictures, add reviews or even add samples. |
